Holidays are over and most of us are back at work. Back in the real world. After days of leisure and recreation, a new year is awaiting us.
A nasty cold spoiled our holidays
Unfortunately, I spent my holidays with a nasty cold which is still getting on my nerves. The good thing was, my man was also down with a cold and we suffered together. Therefore, we did not spend our time out in the snow. No, we had to muster all our strength for not going crazy while all of our friends posted pictures of snowy landscapes with blue skies and happy outdoor-faces. It was really hard, because I got a Splitboard for Christmas and wanted to start mountainwards right away. Now it seems, I will have to wait even a week longer, because I am still not fit enough for sports. Two weeks in a row without any exercise! I don’t know when was the last time that happened. Definitely several years ago. You can imagine my impatience.
Splitboarding: my new challenge
Finally, thanks to my more than generous man and his present, I am going to spend more time in the mountains in winter with my new splitboard. After years of searching for alternatives for skiing, I am going to give my secret passion of snowboarding another try. Only this time, I am going to do it the right way. No more “I can learn it alone-Shit” like I told myself 10 years ago and ended up ruining my knees. I am going to hire a coach and learn it properly. From scratch. It will take some time, but I am very optimistic that I will learn it. Especially, because my coach is a friend of us who I know as a veeeery patient and veeeery nice guy. Hello Andi! -) After some practice of snowboarding I will be ready for my first splitboard tour and I will finally be able to ride down the mountains on beautiful champagne powder. Fingers crossed. 🙂
New Year, new business
Besides my ambitions of becoming a decent snowboarder I have additional goals. For one, I am going to work on my own business. I have thought a lot about my possibilities after my bachelor study and one is to start out on my own, which I finally did mid-December. It is only a small business and I am doing it on the side for now, but I see it as a chance for doing what I love and earn some money with it. I will see, where it will lead me.
Additionally, I am playing with the idea of applying for the master study in September. This one depends on how many time I could spend on it beside my business and my full-time-Job. I think this will be a gut decision.
New year, enhanced quality of life
You see, a lot of challenges are waiting for me and I am really looking forward to them. But what matters to me the most in the end is to find a healthy balance in my life and improve life quality. I have said it in previous years, but it is never out of date:
- I want to live more consciously, more in the moment.
- I want to spend my time with the people I love.
- I want to make new experiences and learn from them.
- I never want to stop learning.
- I don’t want to waste any precious lifetime on unimportant things.
- I definitely don’t want to waste energy by getting annoyed because of minor things. It is better to use the energy for positive activities.
What I wish for is health. Health for me and my man, my family and our friends. Because in the end it is the only thing that matters. As long as I can I want to really live and get the most out of my life. Try new things, learn new things, make mistakes, never stop.
With that said, I wish you all a very happy and healthy new year. Make the best out of it.
