The party is over…for now

Day X has come, at least it is due next week. Day X, also known as semester start. Next week it’s getting serious, even more serious than the previous two years. It is the start of our last year of our Bachelor Study, which means we are supposed to write two (!) Bachelor Theses until June 2018.

Seriously, I don’t know how to feel about this last year of study. There is joy, because there is light at the end of the tunnel and we are all going to graduate soon. But sometimes there is also a lot of self-doubt and fear that I am not going to make it.

Writing a Bachelor Thesis is not easy, not at all. I already panicked – on several occasions. On the other hand, I am very looking forward writing it, because I am really into my topic, which is about alpine sport. Surprise, Surprise! 😉

The research is kind of tricky and has taken a lot of time since August, as has writing E-mails in order to get at least some information. I thought there would be more out there online, but I was wrong. Very.

So, long story short: The topic is perfect for me and my interests, but I have to work hard for a good grade. That’s for sure.

On the upside, I am not alone in this and I am optimistic that my colleagues and I are going to make the best out of it. So many students have graduated before us and so will we. Maybe the road will be a bit bumpy, but with the right vehicle – or on foot, nothing wrong with that – we will cross the finish line in June.

For me, I have sworn to myself to keep up the balance between recreation and work. I need time for the happy-things in my life, even more so come year. It’s only a question of time management and that’s something I am good at. 🙂

Thinking about it this way makes it a lot easier to look forward to the next semester, at least this way I am not dreading it. 😉

Last but not least, I wish us all a successful and fun last academic year!
