I am not a big fan of celebrating something only because it is the day for it. I prefer celebrating – especially love – whenever I like and show it to my beloved ones when I want to, mostly out of the blue. Everyone likes little surprises. 🙂
On the other hand, I like the fact that Valentine’s Day is celebrated all over the world. More so, because we are currently living in a world where we have to fear a breakdown of the US every single day. You know why and I am not going to write more about him.
Back to Valentine’s Day: Although I don’t like to be told when I have to show my love, I like that there is a day where we celebrate something as special as love. And that we are celebrating it all over the world. If you look at Twitter, Facebook and Instagram the Timeline is full of hearts and flowers and such colourful postings are nice to look at. Who wants to look at dark and aggressive postings and pictures instead? Nobody. At least, I hope so.
I think in the end it is a good thing that people are reminded to think of their beloved and show them their appreciation and maybe thank them for being that great. Even the people who aren’t getting tired to mention that Valentine’s Day is only a day where only the flower and gift shops benefit definitely would be happy about a bunch of flowers. Honestly, who would not rejoice over a bunch of flowers or chocolates from their love? Or anybody? On any day?
Unfortunately, we often forget to show our love or even appreciation. Otherwise, we wouldn’t need a day to remind us of.
It is important to acknowledge that nothing and nobody should be taken for granted. Therefore, it is important to make an effort and try not to forget to say thank you and show your appreciation more often or on a regular basis. Not only your beloved will be happy, you will be too. Because surprising someone feels awfully good.
If you are not able to do as mentioned above, for whatever unconvincing reason, don’t you dare forget to bring some chocolate or flowers home today! It’s Valentine’s Day after all!
